On Bonaire, pride speaks for itself. You can see it. In the deep blue sea. In the sabal palm that grows wild nowhere else in the world. In the mangroves that shelter young fish before they make their way into open water. Bonaire's nature carries the color, strength, and character of the island.
Through we’re part of nature, we shine a light on what Bonaire can be proud of: nature that stands out, places that are part of who we are, and people who care for their island.
Pride begins with recognizing what is valuable. The sea that gives our island its color. The mangroves that help protect our coastline. The sabal palm that grows wild nowhere else. The land, the sky, the water, and the light that make Bonaire what it is.
Through we’re part of nature, we show that pride is more than something you say. You can see it in the way we care for our surroundings. In a clean coastline. In coral that is growing again. In plants taking root. In residents who roll up their sleeves because this island belongs to all of us.
That is why pride is at the heart of this campaign. When you are proud of Bonaire, you see your surroundings differently. You notice what deserves protection. You recognize what belongs here. And through small everyday choices, you show what we’re part of nature means.
Throughout January, February, and March, the campaign will be visible across the island: in newspapers, on digital billboards, on indoor screens, through online banners, and in your social media feed.
Each image highlights a different side of Bonaire's pride. A sabal palm glowing in warm light. The turquoise waters of Lac Bay. Mangroves full of life. Images that help you feel what makes Bonaire so special and why we care for it together.
Pride lives in people, too. On Bonaire, there are residents and volunteers who do not wait for someone else to take action. They pick up litter, plant trees, help restore mangroves, care for coral reefs, and give their time to young people and nature. Not for recognition. Simply because they care about their island. That is why we share their stories through our Island Heroes portrait series, published on Bonaire.nu and The Bonaire Reporter.
The series shows what pride in Bonaire looks like in practice: care, dedication, and love for the place where we live. From Reef Renewal Bonaire to Mangrove Maniacs. From Clean Coast Bonaire to Tera Barra and STINAPA Junior Rangers. Together, these Island Heroes show that change often starts small. With people who simply do what feels right.
