Without nature, there’s no future. Without food, there’s no today. That’s why the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security & Nature (LVVN) works to protect both. In Bonaire and in the European Netherlands. Their goal: long-term resilience rooted in healthy ecosystems and strong local food systems.

Growing food, building knowledge

On Bonaire, the ministry supports farmers, herders, and growers with more than promises. They bring knowledge, tools, and hands-on help.
That means better breeding programs for goats and sheep. Support for farmers making the shift to sustainable practices. And a growing LVV knowledge center where local agriculture gets stronger—together.

Keeping the sea alive

The ministry’s reach goes beyond the land. Together with the public entity Bonaire, they’ve developed a fisheries policy that keeps both nature and food security in balance. The result? A sea that can keep feeding the island—without running dry. Good for the reef. And good for the fishers who depend on it.

Nature leads the way

Food security starts with a healthy environment. That’s why LVVN invests in projects that protect vulnerable ecosystems, boost biodiversity, and manage natural resources with care. It’s a people-first approach to conservation—with nature at the center.

Balance, always

Whether it’s harvest or habitat, growth or protection—this partner helps keep things in balance. And that balance is what makes Bonaire stronger. Today and for every generation to come.
