On the Caribbean island of Bonaire, nature isn’t just something we admire. It’s what we depend on — every single day. That’s the message behind our new public awareness campaign, Nos ta biba di naturalesa (We’re part of nature), launching September 30.
This island-wide campaign highlights how deeply our daily lives are connected to nature. Whether you work the kunuku (traditional farm), fish along the coast, or hike through the mondi — nature is everywhere, and it sustains us all. “Nature isn’t just a backdrop. It feeds us, calms us, protects us,” says the program manager of the Nature and Environmental Policy Plan for the Caribbean Netherlands. “We want people to feel that — and take responsibility for it.”
You’ll See It All Around You
Running through the end of 2026, the campaign appears on roadside billboards, in local supermarkets, across social media, and in print. It features real images of Bonaire’s natural beauty: powerful, fragile, and undeniably ours. Every visual carries the campaign logo and the familiar slogan: Nos ta biba di naturalesa – We’re part of nature.

Join the Video Challenge
Starting October 13, Bonaire residents are invited to share how they live from nature. Maybe it’s working your kunuku, catching fish with your family, diving the reef, or gardening at home. Post your video on social media, tag and like the official campaign Facebook page, and you’re in.
